A little coffee time and then we had church - I in my bathrobe, G in his underwear. Oh wait - that's a bad poem! We could get to church a lot earlier if we didn't have to get ready! Brandon was feeling refreshed so he headed out to work on the fence. I picked up the house again...I may have lost my cool on this. Is it that much to ask for you to put the blankets and pillows back on the chair/couch when you get up?! About 9:30 I went out to check on him and suddenly become the assistant painter. Now I realize painting a fence sounds easy enough. I am here to tell you it is not. There are a lot of different methods and technics and we have landscaping against one side of the majority of it. My top knot was skewered more than once with sticks from the bushes. We got two sections painted and had a lunch break. We really needed the break. Prior to the break I made the comment "I really didn't think I would stop caring so quickly!" This was not the right comment to make since I was working with Mr. Pauli Perfection. After lunch we had full bellies, put on some tunes and tried using a roller and it worked much better. It wasn't a lot faster, but I did find it to be more fun. While we worked the kids baked cupcakes. In the afternoon they came out and played in the backyard. It was a really pretty day. Some of us should have used some sunscreen - but we had a lot of fun with redneck jokes and songs :) The clean up took forever. I am just not a great project person. We have 42 sections and we have only 4 completed. Before we can paint them the the rust has to be ground off and then primmer applied. It is going to take awhile. While I feel defeated and think this will never be done, Brandon is feeling rejuvenated that we have 4 already done. One thing we have both agreed on - there is no way this would be happening if we weren't all at home with canceled activities.

They made deal...Elizabeth got to put make-up on Grant and she would play basketball with him :) He may have gotten his toenails painted too. |
We spent the evening practicing social distancing with my parents. The kids both asked more than once "we can't even hug them?" Having to look at your child and tell them they can't hug Ima and Pops puts a new reality on things. We also joked that the last time Grant fell asleep by the fire he slept walk. We made sure he knew where he was when we got him home and put him into bed! I told my parent's that Grant had asked the other night if he could live with us forever. I asked him "by yourself or you just want your family to live with us?" He said his family and that Brandon and I could have the downstairs bedroom! My mom said "well I know a certain someone that would love it if his kids lived with him." and my dad responded "there is just so much waste!" Compound living during a 30 plus day quarantine would be more fun!
Tomorrow the start of remote learning!
