Day 19

Grant was done with his school work by 7:30! Elizabeth was done by 9:15 - she didn't start quite as early as he did! At any rate we are going to need a little more schoolwork to keep them busy! We went for a walk and the listened to Briggs present the state of Oklahoma. Next week's presentation topic - MATH! Elizabeth is going to teach them about fractions and Grant is taking on area and perimeter.

Today's project - scrubbing moss out of pavers. Sounds fun right? We worked about 45 before lunch. Took a lunch break. Took a rest break - it's hard to work on a full stomach and then scrubbed for a few more hours. The reward for finishing the job was ice cream. The initial goal was to get it all done yesterday but I quickly realized that was a bit ambitious so we focused on one area and got it all done. The kids hung in there pretty well. There was a little complaining but honestly it isn't a fun job. The ice cream definitely motivated them and it was well deserved.

After our ice cream break I mowed the front yard and pulled some weeds. The other big project we have going on is repainting our fence. It is iron and parts are rusting so parts have to be ground first and then primed and then painted. Brandon has 4 sections primed. He had just finished when it started to sprinkle.

We had grilled chicken kabobs for dinner, watched some Titan Games and headed for bed. Brandon and I have both been awake at 4:00am. I told him we are getting too much sleep!
