Kid Date Nights

We are trying something new this year with the kids.  Each month we take a school night and take the kids on a kid date.  The first time I took EB and we ate dinner at Biaggi's and then shopped with a gift card she had received for her birthday from Toys R Us.  We had such a good time.  We had so many giggles over dinner.  We talked about how old she could be before she could date and I made a joke that she at least had to have boobs.  To which she promptly blushed and said "mom you cannot talk about boobs in a nice restaurant!" It was priceless!  Brandon took Grant golfing and then to Avantis.  It was such a good time we did it again in September, but switched date partners.  Brandon took Elizabeth fishing and then to Mexican for dinner.  They had all kinds of fish stories!  I took Grant to play mini golf at the recently re-opened course in Washington.  The best part of our night was our conversation at dinner when he was trying to describe a toy he likes to play with at pre-school.  We were having quite the language barrier.  I asked him to draw a picture, I guessed over and over and over again before we finally agreed that this toy was called a boogie board.  I informed him that was toy you play with at the beach.  He kept arguing so I finally googled it.  Guess what, there is a toy called a boogie board.  Of course next to the image of this LED tablet writing device was a picture of a boogie board at the beach! So fun!  October has now come and passed and we will have to schedule a date night for November because we all enjoy them.

This is a tree post tornado.  I had to explain that the path of the tornado went right through the golf course and this is a tree that lived, but had many broken branches.  It still makes me sad to see all of our town's "tornado trees"
Trying to find his ball.
What boy wouldn't love to end his date night with a popsicle in the bathtub?!

St Jude Run 2015

St Jude Run week kicked off with the Memphis send off.  The kids had new shirts to wear and we gave Pops big hugs and kisses goodbye!

Then we waited a few hours and started driving to Memphis on a secret trip! My Dad didn't know that he was being named Runner of the Year and we were on a mission to surprise him at the presentation the next morning.
Mission accomplished! He was surprised!  EB flew into his arms.  The moment was priceless!

Last picture in Memphis before we took off for the journey home and Dad took off for the run.

And this was my first year to run the Washington Satellite run.  I have the best cheerleaders!

Can't have enough pics with the Chik-fil-A cow!

This is pre-run - don't we look fresh!  Apparently we smelled really bad by the end of the day.  So bad that we didn't even recognize that we both smelled that bad!!

Such a fun day! We are so thankful for all of the support and it felt really good to be running for such a great cause.  When I put my running shoes on that morning a feeling came over me that I will never be able to explain.  I can't wait to do it again next year!

Auggie & Andi

A little summer time shout out to Auggie's sister Andi!  She came to play with us before the kids went back to school.  Andi was fresh off a hair cut and Auggie needed one!  These girls play hard together! At least Andi has figured out that she can actually get into the baby pool, where as Auggie thinks it is just a huge water bowl!
