Amen!

Each night we say grace at dinner.  In the past I have asked the blessing, but if I try to now, Elizabeth will interrupt me and ask to do it.  It used to just be, "Dear God, thank you for our friends, family and food."  However, we have evolved to "Dear God, thank you for all of our wonderful blessings, our food, our family, our warm house, daddy, mommy, Grant, Jack and our wonderful blessings." (the blessing part is really important) If we remind her of someone special we want to pray for she will include them as well. 

About a month ago Grant started folding his hands to pray. So cute - I must get a picture of this! It just seems inapproirate to take pics of your kids while you are supposed to be praying.  He gets this little man, serious look on his face and stops eating, folds his hands and gives all of his attention to his sister's prayer.  Very sweet.  Well tonight he sweetened the pot by shouting, "Amen!" when she finished praying.  I hope he does it again so I can record it, because it is just too cute not to capture.  Not only that, but the fact it was clearly an "amen" was great.  Brandon and I just gave each other that look, like "did he just say what I think he said?" followed by, "yes, yes he did." 

I think I have my little man figured out.  He doesn't want to do anything until he knows he can do it right.  So I don't think we see or hear him practicing things aloud.  He stews on it for a long time and then he just does it.  I am anticipating (and hoping for)  a vocabulary explosion!  I have a hunch it is just around the corner. 

I pulled into the drive this past weekend and Brandon was outside playing with Jack and Grant said "Dada" from the backseat, which was a first and once again accurate!  He might be three years old before he converses with us, but I can't imagine what the conversation will be!  I just hope we will be able to keep up!
