Here kitty kitty

So we had this little friend show up at our house today. I was sitting quiet in the peace that overcomes the house after the children have boarded the bus and I hear this sound. A meow like sound. Well it wasn't like a meow, it was a meow. Holy cow there was a cat at our back door! It was very friendly. I even let Auggie meet it and she didn't run it off. She actually seemed ok with a cat. How do dogs know to chase squirrels, yet a cat she just sniffed at?! I spent the day monitoring the situation and upon further investigation decided that the cat had no front claws and became convinced that someone had lost their dear pet. Well by the time I had decided that I needed to get it to the vet to see if it was chipped the little fur ball wouldn't come to me. Now it is the beginning of March and it was a very cold night. I put out water (Elizabeth informed me that cats are lactose intolerant - not sure if this is true but it water was easier than arguing). I also offered it some boiled chicken and a box with blankets, because I have compassion, but that cat was not coming side our house!

The kids got home from school and thought it was a great thrill! It wasn't until later that night that it came up to the door again and gladly let Elizabeth hold it. The picture is of poor quality, because I was standing inside the nice warm kitchen, looking out! I promised the kids that we had done what we could and if it came back in the morning I would take it to the vet. Guess what? We haven't seen it since. But I would like to record to reflect that even Brandon googled "how cold is too cold for a cat to be outside" because he was worried about it too! Well farewell kitty - hope you found your way home!
