The day I forgot to pick my child up from school

For anyone who thinks I have it all together, it's a facade!  I got a call from the school one Wednesday afternoon and as soon as I saw caller ID my heart sank because I knew I had forgotten to pick Elizabeth up from school! The market is now open for Mother of the Year, because this took me out of the running!  Who forgets to pick their kid up from school?!

It had not been a normal day. My dad picked Grant up from school to take him to the farm show (love him for that!) and he made the comment "we will be home when EB gets off the bus." So I locked into my mind that she was riding the bus home, even though I pick her up on swimming days.  I had the whole afternoon to myself so I begin crafting.  I start making banners and then I make a few more and then I remember EB saying that she would really like one.  I had this cute white burlap with gold polka dots on it and I could already see the glittery pink letters "SNOW" across it.  As I was blaring Maroon 5 and cutting, painting and glittering my heart out my phone rings.  Yep "she will be in the office waiting for you"  Awesome.  She took it all in stride and wasn't upset at all, plus there was this really cool banner waiting for her!  Oh not one of my finer moments! Mama said there'd be days like these!
