Snowmen Ornaments |

Elizabeth stamping and cutting |
Elizabeth is really into be creative, both pretend play and crafting. I try to make something home-made each year for Christmas, the grandparent's eat that stuff up ;) Last year we did hand prints, this year was finger print snowmen. Elizabeth was all over this one. Grant however, not so much. It was our little secret that the small "boy" snowman was Elizabeth's little finger and not Grant's, but when Mimi and Pops opened theirs up she spilled the beans! It was very cute to listen to her retell the making of the ornaments. We also made quite of few glittered glass ball ornaments. Glitter, stamping, gluing, coloring, cutting...you name it and she will want to try it! I think her two favorite expressions may be "Can I do that?" and "Can I help with that?" It is fun to see her want to be so involved and is a constant reminder to set a good example. Apparently, I have slipped a few times because when her ink pad for her stamps didn't work she exclaimed, "Damn it!" very loudly. I slip once and she has never forgotten it! I guess I have to give her kudos for using the phrase in proper context!

"Thank You"photocards |
I did photo thank you cards a few years ago and decided to go for it again this year. In an ideal world I would picture the kids with the gifts they received, but let's face it there are only 24 hours in a day and it is best when they sleep at least 12 of those! So I went for the generic "thank you" but let me tell you by the time I took the pictures, edited them, made the card and picked them up, I am certain it would have taken less to hand write them! As you can tell Grant had a blast with this! After a few minutes, it finally occurred to me to write "You!" on the front AND the back of his card because he wanted to look at the writing himself and not face it outwards. Plus, I had to bribe them with Smarties to sit down, in case anyone has noticed that it looks like he has food in his mouth! I love this picture because his expression captures exactly the way he felt about this project and oh my goodness does he look my dad in this picture!
Anyway, I had fun with this one and everyone once and awhile it's ok if it's about mom. In the meantime Grant can keep doing his boy things and Elizabeth and I can continue down our crafty paths! My goal is to one day be Pinterest worthy and have an Alison original pinned!
