Ansley's Wedding

My cousin got married in Georgia and we made a long weekend road trip out of it and spent some extra time with David and Sara. The kids played so well together. Megan warmed right up to the kids and Andrew has started walking and was so much fun. David and Sara took us to Ponce City Market on Friday. Lots of cute shops and a food hall with anything you want. Barndon had a ramen bowl, Elizabeth and I had potstickers and egg rolls and Grant and Megan had hot dogs! Of course there was a maple bacon donut and some scoops of edible cookie dough too. We didn't leave hungry. As an added bonus we got to have an adult night out that evening with incredible food also. We went to Grits Cafe and everything from the drinks to dessert were delicious. Such a great weekend, we can't wait to see them soon at Thanksgiving!
Uncle Brandon feeding Andrew cookie dough (don't worry it was edible, with no raw eggs!)

The Crazy Eight at Ponce City

Could he be in cuter?
This girl loves to dress up!
And who knew, he does too! He couldn't wait to have daddy  show him how to tie a tie!
When you ask your brother to take a nice family picture of you and you tell him what mode to take it in and this is what he captures...perfect.

Cocktail hour was a little cool, but such a beautiful setting and wedding! Love family time!

Pumpkins and more pumpkins

The pumpkin patch at the farm provided quite the bounty this year! So we had some great jack-o lanterns and that falls into Brandon's department. Power tools were needed for this project!

There are a lot of pumpkins under those green vines!
The pumpkins were pretty heavy for the kids to pick up from the field, so we let them roll them into the back of pick up. I didn't think it was a very hard job until I had to do it. The pumpkin rolling is a valuable job! Well done kids!

This was just the first harvest. Ima & Pops harvested many more!

Gourds, oh so many gourds. We are cutting back on gourds next year!

Showcasing our many varieties from the Terre Noire patch!

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail

Brandon has wanted to see Bourbon country for quite some years and we finally made it happen this fall. We started in Louisville and made our way to Lexington and back over the course of a long weekend.
The Red Yeti, the first evenings dining
Kentucky Artisan Distillery - Jefferson's Ocean was our first stop
It was a group of only 12 and it was the smallest tour we did, but  none the less a great way to start.
Buffalo Trace was next

Wild Turkey - where our tour guide used the term "crap human" when referring to herself. Our advice, skip the tour , get a drink at the bar and enjoy the beautiful view

Lively bunch at the Wild Turkey tasting!
The view was awesome. The taller bridge is no longer used, expect by some guys who bought it to bungee jump off of!
We started Saturday morning at Woodford Reserve. The most expensive, crowded, least bourbon sampled at the sampling AND our favorite tour!! It happened to be the final day of the 2018 Bourbon Chase, which is a cross country run across bourbon country through different distilleries. We happened to be at Woodford as they were passing through, thus making it crowded. The tour guide we had was the best and truly made the tour. Two thumbs up for Woodford.

This was also our first bourbon ball of the trip...there is no going back!
Next was Maker's Mark. This was special because Tim's barrel had recently been bottled so we all had plenty of bottles to dip! Really a pretty facility. By this time we could probably give the tour :) But they get the highest score the best art.

A barrel house...you've seen one you've seen them all. I don't need to spend a lot of time in these buildings, as the thought of their collapsing made me very nervous!

The moment right after our tour guide announced that they have first responders on campus and then an employee lost control of a golf cart and busted through a fence...first responders were called!
Chihuly art at Makers

Just enjoying a "Kentucky hug" at our last stop, Evan Williams

A great weekend with great friends and Brandon came home a few more bottles for his bourbon cabinet.
