Family Bowling

It's still winter and it's still cold, so we went bowling! The pictures are merely so you can see our awesome form. You can easily understand why it is difficult for one of us (or any of us!) to break 100. And yes, we use bumpers!

Grant & Basketball

The basketball season starts in January and only lasts 6 weeks, but in the middle of winter it feels good to get hot in a gymnasium! Grant loves to run and play and he really enjoys playing basketball and shooting hoops at home. At the first grade level we pretty much just cheer the same things over and over...1) arms up! 2)Stop scratching!  He did a good job getting his arms up. He still has a case of the itches- but we are working on that! For me the fun part is playing a new team each week, but always knowing someone on the opposing team. Small town perks!

And everyone gets a medal!

Winter Basketball

Grant played basketball this winter. It is always fun to see the kids improve throughout the season, but what I looked forward to was what friends we would match up against each week. Just a bonus of living in a small town!

An Art Favorite

When I was in school in Geneva I vividly remember my art teacher and one project in particular...foil people. Ever since I have been helping with art in the kids' classrooms I have wanted to do this project but because there isn't exactly an artist associated with "foil people" I always put it on the back burner. Until Now!! I did it with Elizabeth's 3rd grade class and it went as expected...some kids really loved it and gave it their all...some kids hate art and would rather be running around - so typically art cart experience! Here were a few of the finished products:

Sparkle Spa & Come Fly with Me!

After having our awesome cultural Hamilton night, the next day was devoted to family time. We started with breakfast at The Hangar. It was lucky that the kids kept bumping their chair into the gentleman behind us and that he was really nice! He invited us out to look at his plane and tell us his flying tales. He flies to and from Alaska. He told us about bears beating down landing strips and a few close calls that he has had. He was so sweet and let all the kids have a turn in the pilot's seat.
When we arrived home the kids decided to open their own outdoor spa and of course they needed customers! Most memorable was the rapid dry nail spray that felt like a new form or torture and the men getting sparkly nail polish! Couldn't love these kids more! Such a fun, WARM weekend!

Hamilton

My name is Alexander Hamilton...OK I might be slightly obsessed with the soundtrack of Hamilton, and the US history that I never knew. Amber gave us tickets for Christmas and we took the whole crew out for a cousin visit and a taste of the arts...much to Brian's dislike. When a man says he really isn't entertained by 2 hours and 45 minutes of a broadway production, one really should just believe him! Amber and I had an awesome time and tried our best not to sing along...at least not out loud. So, YES I recommend you go see it, just listen to the sound track first!

Sledding

There was finally enough snow that it was worthy of getting the sleds out. When I was growing up we always went to a golf course to sled the hills. So we trekked out of the Quail Meadows parking lot and found a hill!
