When I was still working we had a slow winter and we created a gingerbread village.
We went all out - the gingerbread was from scratch, our house
patterns were created from scratch, we had stained glass hard candy
windows, an ice skating pond and frosting snowmen - trust me, it was
really cool. We put xmas lights inside to make the church glow. Last
week I got inspired to decorate a ginger bread house with Elizabeth, but
wasn't looking for quite so much work. I also have to admit that I had
a team that helped me build the village,
including a pastry chef, so I was not going to be able to recreate this
at home with my 3 year old!

So we hot glued graham crackers together and used leftover Halloween
candy to decorate our "graham cracker" house. We had fun and that's all
that matters! I only burnt my fingers three times and I didn't eat any
frosting, so I saved a few calories! I have fallen from an entire
gingerbread village to a simple graham cracker house, but the time I
spent with Elizabeth I wouldn't trade for anything! (Grant was napping)
